The 80s are Coming Back

God help us, the 80s are coming back and they’re doing it through movies. Luckily, they are two of my favorite movies from the decade, so I can’t complain too much!

First of all, ThinkGeek has gotten their hands on the brand new StayPuft Marshmallows. That’s right, the favorite treat of Dr. Ray Stantz (“Ray, if someone asks you if you are a god, you say YES!”). I always forget that StayPuft isn’t a real brand (until now), but I love how delicious they look. Oh, and they’re caffeinated… which explains why Ray is so excited before going to the library. It also comes in a really cool box.

Next, there is a brand new coffee shop in Chicago. That seems normal, right? Plenty of coffee shops in Chicago. Except OH WAIT, how many have a time-traveling Delorean??? That’s right, only one! My Chicago readers need to go there and tell me how awesome it is.

On a side note, I also found this old BTTF toy car, just another toy car I would have killed for when I was a kid.

Finally, we have the Scott Pilgrim game, which came out for the 360 earlier this week. Scott Pilgrim (which I reviewed last week) is a new movie, but the game, like the books and movie itself, is based on the 8-bit games of the 80s. It has references to many different games from the 80s and early 90s (including Super Mario and Sonic), but the game play reminds me of the 4 player Ninja Turtles game that I played constantly when I was a kid. I’ve gotten through the first few levels and it’s a whole lot of fun. Whether you loved the books, loved the movies or loved the games it parodies, you’re going to like the Scott Pilgrim game. Also, go see the movie already.

That coffee shop is like somebody went and talked to 10 year old me and said "Dude, unlimited funds to make a coffee shop….GO!"

I really wanna try the Cocoa Cereal Moocha now.

Telltale is actually gonna have a Delorean at PAX coincidentally, a story on either Kotaku or Destructoid had a short little blurb about it.

That coffee shop is quite possibly the coolest one I've ever seen. Back To The Future AND Ghostbusters AND Star Wars AND Tron? I think I'm going to have to find a reason to head to Chicago soon!

I saw the Stay Puff thing… I love the fact that 3 marshmallows is equivalent to a cup of black coffee. Oh, the Scott Pilgrim Game is amazing.

As a child of the 80s…I'd say this is like a walk down memory lane. Happy Face!
