Some of you might know of Jesse “Jeskid” Cowell. He’s a fellow citizen of the internet and a friend of mine for many years now. He’s also a filmmaker; both his comedy Shades of Grey and the newer dark scifi thriller Drawn by Pain can be found for free online.
Well, he’s come out with a brand new film and it’s premiering tonight (Wednesday, Sept. 1) in New York. Status Kill tells the story of a deadly assassin that has a problem many of us face: being addicted to social networking. For most people, this could mean getting fired. For him, it could mean a bullet to the face. That doesn’t stop him from updating his status.
Just from the trailer, I think it’s a must for any patron of the internet. The screening will be at the Roger Smith Hotel (501 Lexington Ave. @ 47th St.) starting at 5:30. The screening will include a round table with the film makers. If you are in NY, I definitely suggest you make it down to the screening. You’ll need to RSVP on the Facebook page.
If you can’t make it to the screening, you can still bookmark the film’s website so you’re ready when it goes online later in the month. If you do make it to the screening, tell Jesse that Kschenke sent you.
On a separate note, the post before this was my 150th entry on Just Plain Something. It’s pretty special to me and thanks again for supporting my site.
