I’m actually really excited about Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Based on the pseudo-historical book by Seth Graham-Smith, Vampire Hunter asks us to wonder, “What if the Great Emancipator not only save our nation, but also stalked the fanged undead?” Because he was just that awesome. I think as long as they keep this movie fun and with a good dose of tongue-in-cheekiness, it can be great.

Apparently, Mary Elizabeth Winstead is playing his wife and America’s first lady, Mary Todd Lincoln. The problem is, Winstead is a very pretty young woman. Mary Todd… not so much. I mean, I realize this is a version of history where our President actively fights vampires, so they can stretch reality a good amount, but they really don’t look anything alike. It’s kind of like if Emma Stone played Eleanor Roosevelt.
Winstead is probably best known as the warhammer-wielding Ramona Flowers in Scott Pilgrim vs the World. She was also in Deathproof, Live Free or Die Hard
and a bunch of horror films. We know she can do action scenes and something tells me that if Honest Abe needs a hand, Mary Todd will be more than willing to stab a few nightwalkers.
What do you guys think? Winstead is the only name I recognize in the cast so far (Abe himself is going to be played by Benjamin Walker, who had a small role in Kinsey), but do you even think this movie can work?
Hello? You forgot Sky High!
She's way too much of a looker to play a homely gal.
As Nick said, Sky High was one of her awesomest roles.
The movie turned out pretty great though.
