The Anchorman 2 teasers reunite the Channel 4 News Team

Oh, Anchorman. I don’t care what anybody else says. You might have some stupid moments, including a couple riding unicorns to a literal Pleasure Town, but you always made me laugh. You’re one of the only Will Ferrell movies I feel compelled to watch more than once and you’re easily my favorite post-SNL Ferrell character. I went to see it in the theaters twice. I think what made me love the movie (and like it much better than Ferrell’s newer similar comedies) is that the comedy felt more or less effortless. And looking back, I admire Ferrell for making a good amount of original comedies instead of reboots or remakes.

When Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues was announced on Conan at the end of March, I am pretty damn pleased. Oh sure, I’ve gotten tired of seeing so many sequels coming out in the last five years. And sure, there was certainly some doubts as far as whether they can hit the same comedic notes while still keeping the chemistry fresh, but the super-short domestic and international teaser trailers are certainly a good sign. Check them out below.

I really have missed Steve Carell since he left The Office, and maybe I missed Brick Tamland even more. It’s just fun to see the fearsome foursome back looking much more macho than they actually are, but is anyone else wondering when exactly this is going to be set? I mean, by the time the movie premieres it will be a whole decade since the first movie come to the big screen. So… will the characters still be in the 70s?

The one aspect that I’m worried will be ignored is Christian Applegate’s character. Even during the more ridiculous parts of the movie, what made you like Burgandy was his growing relationship with his ladylove. Their ending felt genuine (as genuine a movie can be that includes Steve Carell goring a guy with a trident during a vicious cockfight). Right now Applegate is only rumored to return, but if she isn’t in the cast I’ll be sorely disappointed.

Anchorman 2 is set to release in 2014. Are you looking forward to it?

    Channel 5 news team? 😉

As an aside…. why does Brian Fantana own an outfit incredibly similar to one hanging in my closet?
