Since it’s Halloween night, I was thinking of writing about a scary or creepy movie or maybe just my favorite mystery movie, but hey, why do that when I can show you something truly frigthenging … say, a gigantic Smeagol! Holy. Crap.

Yep, this gigantic sculpture of Gollum/Smeagol was unveiled this past weekend at its new home at Wellington Airport in Wellington, New Zealand. At 12 meters (a little over 39 feet), Gollum is reaching out for a giant fish … just in case you wanted to relive that scene where he bites right into a raw and wriggly one. Fun times, Gollum. Fun times. Now to be fair, this is actually a beautiful, impeccable recreation of the character and it certainly represents a big part of New Zealand’s entertainment industry from the 15 years or so. It’s also common for airports to have elaborate art installations in different areas. I’m just surprised how huge it is!
