Last week, I wrote about my friend Jesse and his brand new webseries/film. I wasn’t able to go to the premiere in New York (living in the Midwest does have its downsides), but luckily for all of us, the first three segments are online as of last night!
So far, Status Kill is really strong. The special effects are really excellent, especially for a webseries, and the story/dialogue is a good balance of action movie satire and internet satire. Speaking of the internet, the only thing I found unsettling was how spot-on “TweetFacester” is as a representation of online forums (especially Facebook). I had to laugh when I realized who plays one of the protagonist’s Facester friends… namely Guy Rader, a regular in Jesse’s work and a friend of mine on Facebook. Talk about art imitating life.
I’ve posted the first segment below, but you can see the rest on their website. Make sure to join their Facebook page to get updates on more videos.
