First Avatar Trailer

Movie Trailer Avatar, James Cameron, Trailers Leave a Comment

This past week saw a first look at James Cameron’s long awaited Avatar. While a lucky few got to see a 15 minute preview of the film, the first official trailer hit the internet for the public to enjoy.

From what I can tell, a disabled soldier arrives on a lush, army colonized planet to participate in a program that puts his consciousness in the body of a healthy alien. The idea of starting fresh in a new body and new identity is intriguing. However, the majority of the trailer is CGI and I’m not entirely sure how I feel about it. The background stuff looks nice, but the CGI characters don’t convince me just yet. Something about the faces, I think. There’s a good chance the special effects are still being honed before it premieres in December, but I’m not sold either way until I see more.

On a side note, I wonder how many people will confuse this movie with the Avatar: The Last Airbender movie coming out Summer 2010 (example: after watching this trailer, my boyfriend asked, “Wasn’t this movie supposed to be about Martial Arts or something?”).
