It’s been years since I’ve read The Lovely Bones. When I heard a few months ago that a movie adaptation was being released, I was hesitant. It’s set in the 70s, way before Amber Alerts and when you actually trusted the people in your community. 14 year-old Susan is abducted, raped and murdered by one of her neighbors. After her soul reaches her own heaven, she watches as her family slowly falls apart after her disappearance and her father desperately tries to discover what happened to his little girl.
Considering the protagonist spends the majority of the story in the afterlife, they’d have to get a really good director to create that kind of world. Which is why I was happy to find out today that the director is none other than Peter Jackson. Plus, they have a really strong cast in Susan Sarandon, Rachel Weisz, Mark Wahlberg and Stanley Tucci, among others. And the trailer looks so very pretty. I am high hopes for this one. If anything, I’m positive Jackson will makes this a visually stunning film.
I love Peter Jackson! So, hopefully this is going to be great.
this film looks like it will be very good.. I also like your blog, its easy on the eye and I like movies so I will be following.. Keep up the good work.
I also read that book years ago. I totally agree that it will be difficult to pull off as Susan is dead as the events unfold. Kind of like Langdon 'thinking' in DaVinci Code. I am unfortuatley unable to watch the trailer you posted becuase it was removed. But good post.
