During my adventure at the movies on Sunday (review is pending, but coming… I swear!), I saw a surprising amount of not stupid trailers. The one that surpised me the most (mostly because I hadn’t heard of it before) was The Adjustment Bureau. Check it out below:
I know it’s silly, but my favorite part of the trailer is John Slattery. Back when Jon Hamm was rumored to be the next Superman, I halfway joked that he could just make Clark Kent’s wardrobe from Don Draper’s closet. Looking at the trailer, I’m pretty sure Slattery just stole the suits straight out of Mad Men‘s wardrobe department. But there’s something about every role he does that keeps his character charming… whether he’s trying to stifle freewill or just harassing women in the workplace! Except maybe when Roger Sterling performed in blackface; that was pretty cingeworthy.
But what I really like about what I’ve seen of this movie is that the “Bureau” doesn’t really seem evil or even necessarily violent. They really think they’re doing the right thing and maybe even regret having to take such drastic measures. I don’t know, it’s cool to have antagonists that are very dangerous but also morally shades of grey. Plus, Slattery telekinetically tripping Matt Damon was pretty awesome.
The film’s US release is March 4th.
