Hi folks. I don’t plug too many of my other projects here on Just Plain Something because I have Twitter and Facebook to do that. But sometimes I’m a part of something I really want to share with my JPS readers. CliqueClack’s Firefly Week is one such thing.
While I haven’t taken a census of the JPS fanbase, if I had to guess I’d say most of my readers are nerds – especially film/tv nerds. So most of you probably know about Firefly and Serenity. For those of you who don’t know, Firefly
was a short-lived series by Joss Whedon, who was best known for Buffy the Vampire Slayer
. The show only got 14 episodes, many of which weren’t even aired. Those that did air were put out of order, which didn’t help it build a fanbase during this original run. FOX axed the series, to the disappointment of the diehard fans it did manage to convert thanks to it’s great writing and cast. Thanks to the internet and the DVD set, Firefly has grown a huge fanbase, which petitioned to have the film Serenity made a few years after the series ended.
CliqueClack dedicated this week to the show, bringing in over a dozen posts on the short-lived series. I wrote four different posts, but also added to roundtable posts hosted by other writers. Despite the cult status of the series, revisiting Firefly is a reminder of what a great production this was and how much potential it had. It was a joy being a part of this week, and I hope fans enjoyed our thoughts on this great show. Browncoats, please take a look and add your thoughts. Especially let me know what you think of my River & River post.
