Every once in a while I step back and remember just how talented my friends are. I’m serious, through my various projects and involvement in both “real life” and online communities, I’ve found clever, creative and just really cool people who I love talking to and who amaze me with the awesome things they create with their immense talent. In addition to being kickass in their own right, they’ve inspired me to push myself harder in my own work and they’ve supported me in my various projects whether by reading my writing or plugging my webseries or just giving me words of encouragement. So, when I have the opportunity to repay them for that support, of course I’m going to do everything I can! Hence today’s post.
You see, my dear friend, supporter of Just Plain Something, handsome devil and all around good guy Jeff Rupert is putting out his first real album. I’ve heard him play in person before, most recently at RvB:TO where he was the headlining performer for Saturday evening. He’s crazy talented and I know the album is going to be great. However, a lot of the album hinges on his hitting his goal on Kickstarter. As of today (and when I’m writing this), Jeff has four days to raise another $1,400. I want him to make that goal, not only because he’s my friend and I want him to succeed, but because I selfishly really want to get his CD – it’s going to be great (especially because he’ll be working directly with another talented musician and another friend Jeff Williams of Trocodero).
Check out Jeff’s Kickstarter page to learn more about the project itself, listen to some of his music and put in a contribution. For those who have never used Kickstarter before, each contribution tier comes with special perks – at just $12 you can get the physical CD and if you put in at least $5 you get the digital version … although obviously try to contribute as much as you can because the perks get cooler as you go up the ladder. And remember that if Jeff doesn’t meet his goal then he doesn’t get the Kickstarter funds at all, which would be unacceptable.
You only have until Monday, September the 3rd at midnight to support the project, so go now and help my talented friend reach his dreams!
Oh, and check out the video below to get a sample of his talent. Then go pledge to the project!
