PotterWatch #22

PotterWatch is a special group of posts on Just Plain Something dedicated to a certain film franchise about a certain teenage wizard.

I’m working on another review before Deathly Hallows Pt. 1 comes out next week, but I found these awesome scenes from the upcoming film and felt like sharing. Obviously, these have spoilers. If you don’t want spoilers, don’t watch the videos (could it really be that simple!?).

First up is the first scene from the book. Until the splitting of the last film was announced, I really questioned whether they would keep this in the movie. I’m still pretty surprised how on the money they got this scene. Voldemort is just oozing with contempt for everyone but his pet Snape. Oh, and Belatrix is in “far too eager fangirl” mode. No, Bela, he doesn’t want to see the drawings of you two getting married on a pile of muggle corpses.

Here’s Hermoine kicking ass. It’s actually really cool to see all three of them actually holding their own in a fight.

Next is the Ron/Harry fight. I had heard this was done way over-the-top, but it seems just like I imagined it. I especially love Hermoine begging Ron to take off the horocrux.
So here’s Lovegood and the explaination of the Deathly Hallows. No mention of the three brothers, which is a little disappointing. Also, I never imagined Lovegood’s Deathly Hallows symbol to be made out of fine silver. I half expected him to have glued toothpicks together (or pipecleaners).

Next, Malfoy Manor, with Lucius looking a hell of a lot like Jon Hamm to me (I’m not the only one seeing it, right?). And Narcissa’s roots look all grown out. Watch the last 7 seconds for probably the most important moment in the whole freaking movie.

The last video is a featurette about the new Ministry of Magic. We get to see more of the cocky Death Eaters being cocky. We also get to see how the adult actors portraying the kids in disguise got into character.Oh, and Umbridge is still a bitch – like that’s a surprise.

I’d suggest getting your tickets for the first showing for the 19th ASAP… they’re already running out in some theaters.
