With one precious week left until the final Harry Potter film comes to our eyes, it’s not really much of a surprise that some of the scenes are being leaked. I’ve been pretty good so far at not watching these videos, but it sure hasn’t been easy. I’ve kept from most of the handful on the internet, but I did see one or two. Luckily, those have no spoilers, so I thought it would be safe to share.
There are a couple reasons why I like this scene. For one, I’d argue its a good adaptation of this part of the book. In the book, this realization of what he needs to do to find the diadem is almost entirely internal, which doesn’t really work on screen. For another, I love Luna. And while we’ve never heard her speak quite so loudly, I think it’s great that she surprises Harry. It’s easy for the other characters, even her friends, to disregard her because of her nature. But here is a definite moment of clarity, and Evanna Lynch just nails it.
I was planning on just posting the Luna clip, but there was one other scene I took a peek at. Warning, it is part of the Ron/Hermoine clip (but don’t worry, it cuts before “the moment”).
My favorite bit was how Ron knew what to say … yeah, that doesn’t sound pseudo-sexual at all (yes, I know Harry and Ron shared a dorm room, it still a little creepy out of context). But let’s face it, we really haven’t gotten to see these two in a scene just by themselves since the first film, mostly thanks to the stories’ POV almost entirely belonging to Harry. It’ll be good to see them together at last, even if I will miss Harry’s reaction, “Is this the moment? … OI! There’s a way going on here!”
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt. 2 premieres July 15th.
I think it's pretty much a given, most of us <3 Luna in both the movies and books.
…shame they never had more time to develop the character more, have her and Neville end up together.
It's gonna be really nice to see this all draw to a close. Reading the end was a little depressing, just to see it all end after so long, but I think that no matter what, with the movies, I'll be able to enjoy it all.
